I am the proud and brown mama of two young boys, raising them with a loving partner in Washington DC. My day job focuses on equity in public policy, while evenings and weekends are spent roaming the aisles of craft stores, finding the perfect cardigan, and making cheeseboards for friends and family.
GastroPolitico helped me merge my two loves years ago–food and the cynical belief that nothing is void of politics. Now that I’ve become a mother to two young boys over the last decade, this will also be a space to discuss the short cuts we all need to survive and think through the tough conversations that our kiddos are already asking. Parenting is certainly not immune to politics, so buckle up.
Whenever possible, I like to come up with projects and recipes to keep my two creative boys busy and away from Mario Party. In theory, it’s beautiful. In practice, there’s a lot of cursing. But we’ve come up with Diwali diyas, Christmas advent calendars, and handmade recycled valentines, so I’ll try to share the successes (and some of the Pinterest fails, of course!).
