The Glorias

The Glorias

So while I was moping about not being able to ski this season, I was lucky enough to have Sundance in town. The process of getting tickets is utterly ridiculous, with queues in name only and rampant lying about how many seats are left, forcing…

The Resurrection

The Resurrection

In some ways I’m still really optimistic that 2020 is going to be our year. I’m excited about our little family of four continuing to gain our balance against new hormones and development milestones. I’m looking forward to some projects at work with a reconstituted…

Celebration cookies

Celebration cookies

Happy to report that there’s been a lot of reason to celebrate around these parts lately. Halloween: the holy high day of the year. Diwali: the new year. My birthday: only 32, which means I still have a year until my Jesus year. Desmond’s half birthday: I have an eighteen month old who laughs, plays games, hides everything I find useful in the house, and finally, FINALLY, calls me Mama. And a new job: a pretty great gig in higher education policy that I’m very excited to start next week.

Furloughed? Eat for free at Z burger!

Furloughed? Eat for free at Z burger!

kebabs!

A few notable things happened this past week. I got sick, I got better, and now I’m sick again.

Coconut and Pistachio Barfi

Coconut and Pistachio Barfi

India has been on my mind lately. We’re right in the middle of one of the biggest festivals of the year: the ten-day Ganapati festival. Millions of Indians across the world will be visiting one another in homes to pay homage to elaborate arrangements surrounding…

Got crabs?

Got crabs?

A few months ago I stumbled upon one of the best dining establishments in the district: Hot N Juicy. That’s right– that place nestled in the strip of not-so-great restaurants along Connecticut Avenue in Woodley Park, that place where people who want to gorge on…
